Lachrimae -flow my tears
Lachrimae – flow my tears is a study on the behaviour of individual crowd members and the crowd as an entity. It presents different situations, which might be interpreted as dystopian or utopian. The actions spread in the crowd and the individuals lose their sense of self and personal responsibility. The crowd agrees, disagrees, fears, laments, searches for comfort and finds itself in different kinds of power structures. And yet, the crowd does not always need to be irrational, violent and immoral.
The work is inspired by Crowds and Power by Elias Canetti and crowd psychology theories, which it also puts into question. The work is created at SEAD, Salzburg with the graduating students. Premiere on the 23rd of March 2018.
